Chemical polishing for ultra-fine bores and complex internal geometries

Chemical polishing treats complex internal surfaces in a single operation. Ultra-fine bores and bellows interiors, however, have long been considered difficult to process: the chemistry is hard to deliver and act uniformly across such geometries. We developed our own cleaning and chemical polishing equipment specifically for this domain, achieving uniform internal polishing on shapes that electropolishing cannot fully address. More than 20 years of chemical polishing experience, offered as finished products, contract processing and technology transfer.

UHP Capillary Tubing

Ultra-fine stainless steel capillary tubing, 0.2–1.0 mm ID. Internal chemical polishing achieves Ra 0.17 µm together with an improved Cr/Fe ratio, and supports large-lot production at many times the throughput of electropolishing.

Contract Chemical Polishing

Chemical polishing of customer-supplied material. Capillary tubing, precision components, medical needles and similar parts are handled under process control grounded in more than 20 years of experience.

Bellows interiors are also supported, with a track record on geometries long regarded as difficult to polish.

UHP Tubing (long lengths, larger bores)

Technology transfer / partner production

UHP tubing in 3.18 mm and 6.35 mm ID, in lengths up to 6 m, for high-purity piping in semiconductor equipment. We have supplied equipment and provided technical guidance to overseas operations, and welcome enquiries regarding partner production in Japan and the United States.

About our chemical polishing technology

The fundamental advantage of chemical polishing is that it does not require each workpiece to be individually fitted to an electrode, as electropolishing does. The chemistry can be brought into contact with internal surfaces of complex shape.

Inside a 0.2 mm capillary or a bellows, however, delivering the chemistry and having it act uniformly is difficult—which made that advantage hard to realise in practice.

Building on more than 20 years of chemical polishing experience, we independently developed cleaning and polishing equipment for these geometries—extending the shape-handling capability inherent to chemical polishing into the domain of ultra-fine and hard-to-process internal surfaces.
